Editing my trailer

I have started editing the filming that Natasha is taking. So far our trailer is 30 seconds long, and i think it is going well. Our first shot is of the 2 boys breaking into the house.
We chose this shot because we thought that if we show them breaking in, the audience would get a hint of what sort of genre it is nd what the trailer it will be about. Whether it is interesting to watch or not.

This shot is of the boys breaking in but we thought of filming the shot from the front when the are inside in the garden. To improve this shot as part of my editing, I will cut it shot so the audience do not see if the first boy (Reece) smiling and looking in the camera.

This shot will only be aimed at Brandon taking the jewelery. I think that i will also cut this short so the audience do not see him stealing the apple. This is because it will seem really weird.

This 3rd shot is with the boys in the house stealing objects. However, i think i will cut this so that I could only see Reece taking the money box from under the table.

I will combine all these shots together to make a trailer. I will insert non copy wright music that could be used for a trailer. I will have music that would make the trailer seem really tense, so if it was a real trailer for a real TV trailer, people would want to watch it. I will also have the title of the trailer come at the beginning and I will have the name of the company (made up) at the end.

Making my logo

I have made a logo that i think is good enough to put into my trailer however i made two and need to decide which is better.

Which logo is better?
Which logo makes you want to watch it?
Are any of these logos too simple or too complex?  which one?

After the survey I decided to use the second logo in my trailer. However I did need to edit it so that the writing is in the center and the background colour "white" is black so that it matches the background.

Description changes

Today at school we had a visitor named Max who had experienced making trailers before for his coursework, as he also took part in media studies in the past. He had a look at my description/ storyboard and I asked for help to make my trailer much more interesting. So I have wrote a new description for my TV drama trailer. It will have 6 episodes and each episode will be 45 minutes long.
 My new description is:
There will be two boys who will be robbing a house and as they break in they go through all the house and find one room locked. They will break into that room and find many interesting things, but the room is a mess. They seal one thing and as the owner of the house who is also (killer) enters the room and finds something missing, he will be after the two boys. The boys kill the killer and think it is the end. However the killer has a twin but the two boys don't know that. What will happen next?

Evaluation:

Evaluation questions

What were the aims and purpose of the TV trailer?
The aims and purpose of my TV trailer is to make a short 2 min trailer for a TV drama. The aim of my TV trailer is that I am marketing my trailer so the audience are encouraged to watch the TV trailer. I have to make the trailer important and realistic so the audience can enjoy it and watch it when it is out. The TV trailer that I will be filming will be about an hour long each episode and it will have at least 6 episodes.

How did your research support your understanding and influence the planning and filming?
I did a variety of different researches so that I can have an idea of what sort of TV trailer I might do and what sort of genre I should have. I wrote three case studies using different trailers such as: Scream queens, The level and Thirteen. The thirteen and The Level trailer were the same based genre which was crime based so I thought of making a crime based genre trailer. I also did a survey on survey monkey, so that people could vote which genre is a good genre for a TV drama. The research showed me that crime was the second best trailer out of 10 people who took part. I also did a Test audience research with 4 sixth former's and a teacher to show them two different trailers and ask them question. The two trailers were Sherlock Holmes and silent witness. This influenced me to make my trailer simple and fluent, it has also influenced me not to put in a lot of detail in.

How have you tried to use codes and conventions for a TV trailer?
I have used codes and conventions for a TV trailer. I will be using texts and sound which will appear on within the trailer maybe asking a rhetorical question to get the audience thinking and interested in the trailer. I will have non- diegetic sound within the trailer which may have a female/ male speaking of what happens, I will also have diegetic sound to show what sort of sounds will appear on the trailer. Also, I have thought of having costumes such as an investigator’s jacket or maybe a black jacket that would be worn by the three teenagers. This will establish the crime based genre.
